Rolled Plate vs. Cast Plate

alimex cast plate has excellent stability, flatness and our bespoke heat treatment homogenises and removes internal stresses within the fine-grained pore-free aluminium cast structure. The result is good machinability for close tolerances and manufacturing efficiency.

  alimex Cast Plate Rolled Plate
Flatness Deviation 0,13 -0,4mm Deviation 3,00-9,5mm
Surface Finish <0,3μ Typical 80pμ- 115μ
Thickness Tolerance +1-0,1mm +1-0,3 - 3,3mm
Thickness 5-250mm Machined
Thickness 5 -300mm 8- 1060mm Sawn
5-300mm
Stability Very Stable, Not Guaranteed
ACP5080 in many circumstances can replace 5083 / 6061 /6082 Rolled Plate and MIC 6 cast Plate

Standard sizes stocked in the UK

We stock machined cast tooling plates in thicknesses from 5mm to 100mm, machined rolled tooling plate in thicknesses from 6mm to 70mm thick and sawn cast block from 20mm to 300mm. Standard plate sizes are 3020 x 1520, 3670 x 1570. We also keep a limited number plates from our GIANT series 2160 x 4000. Other sizes are available from our parent company in Germany with a lead time of approximately 2 to 3 weeks.

Lead time

Our standard lead times for cut plates and blocks is between 24 and 48 hours.

Logistics

alimex have partnered with a select few logistics firms who have been vetted and approved. We are confident our delivery partners will maintain the same high standards we’ve set for our cast aluminium and the high quality and support standards our clients are accustomed to.

Quality Assurance

alimex have attained ISO9001 accreditation. All work is inspected and checked prior to shipment. Coordinate measuring machine (CMM) data and inspection reports are available on request, but must be requested at the point of order.

Order Processing

Client’s orders are managed within our bespoke order processing and manufacturing software. Orders can be tracked at any stage of manufacture, packaging and delivery. The software further supports our production with cutting optimisation to ensure minimal wastage and production efficiency.

Mill Certificates

2.2 mill certificates can be supplied for cast material and 3.1 mill certificates and be supplied for rolled material on request. Alimex standard practice is to supply a certificate of conformity with every order.

Sales, Delivery and Payment Terms

Delivery is based on our sales, delivery and payment terms found at http://www.alimex.uk.com/en/corporation/terms_conditions.php.

Delivery terms are INCOTERMS 2010.

CAD

We hold the latest CAD/CAM software and can work with 2D and 3D dxf, dwg, step, iges, sat and stl files.

Stress Relieved

We have our own in-house heat treatment and homogenising equipment for aluminium billets, plates and blocks

Research & Development

Innovation, Expertise, Quality. Aluminium has a wealth of compelling properties that constantly open up innovative possibilities for use. New applications and products are being launched on the market at ever more frequent intervals. As a future-oriented company, we react to this progress in a targeted manner and consciously invest in research and development, entirely in line with the maxim “innovation through investment“.

Material development, chemical composition testing, sample preparation, macroscopic and microscopic appraisal, mechanical properties testing, surface finishing of sample pieces, heat treatment of sample pieces.

Anodising

Through intensive research & development we have successfully developed and produced ACP5080 Eloxpure® which will achieve the best possible finishing specification for anodising and hard anodising. Eloxpure® consistently offers substantially improved anodising, with maximum technical and visual performance.
